Project Description:

Cuttlefish is an open-source project management software that maintains important agile-focused features like Gantt charts and sprint management.

There are many workplaces, from labs to student projects, that will not, or cannot, pay for project management tools but still would benefit from features that are almost impossible to find in free software. One of the most important features is being able to present information about tasks and deadlines in different ways, and one of the most common ways to present both information is with a Gantt chart. Free tools like Trello do not provide access to a Gantt chart view, and very function-rich tools like Jira cost money and become so over-featured that they become difficult to navigate. Project leaders that cannot use tools like Jira in their workspace get incentivized to either abandon advanced project scheduling, or waste time exporting information between multiple platforms.

Cuttlefish streamlines project management within teams, improving team members’ workflows when it comes to keeping track of long term projects and objectives. As a result of adopting Cuttlefish, teams of any size in any field keep better track of their work, gain further insights into their performance, and have more control over their productivity. This is a significant quality of life improvement for project teams that are stuck either without certain project management features or trying to replicate those features by hand.
