Project Description: 

Team 102, the Hydronics Optimization Team (H.O.T.), developed twisted-ring turbulator devices to increase the efficiency of a hydronic fan coil unit. The team's sponsor was Aris Hydronics, an HVAC company interested in improving their residential fan coil units without increasing the size of the units.

The team developed and tested twisted-ring turbulator devices that fit snugly inside of copper water pipes, creating turbulent flow which is superior for heat transfer. This design solution accomplished the engineering and customer specifications requested by the sponsor.
