Project Description:

Our project is intended to follow the procedures used to do simulations on real solar sites as accurately as possible, by following ERCOT, CAISO, and NERC MOD 26/27. We conducted research and collected data, developed functioning models, and then refined these models to give us viable outputs. The primary resources that we used were PSCAD and PowerWorld, we are incredibly useful tools in the field of power systems. These programs allowed us to create the models in two separate iterations, allowing us to compare them to ensure that the outputs between them were within a tolerable threshold. The biggest challenge that we faced during this project was how different it was to other projects that we have done in the past. Since we had no hardware or software to work with, it proved difficult sometimes to tell how much progress we were making or exactly what research and data we needed. Despite these obstacles, this project has been very effective at providing us real world experience. If we could make one improvement to the process behind our project, we would develop the models faster so we would have more time to refine them.
